Mainly read this because I read the other two, but this was just ok. I think I liked it better than the original books but I’m still not sure if this is ultimately for me. No issues with the dark romance or dark themes, just not sure if it is the writing style for me.

Idk how I feel it wasn’t bad but I think I’m just chasing the feeling I got in Haunting Adeline and it’s making me not be able to judge this book in a normal way 😫

spin-off to Haunting/Hunting Adeline. Check TW!! You met Molly in Hunting Adeline. It’s a short back story on her life and where she ended up. I read in one sitting but I was conflicted on what rating to give and here’s why. Although I loved the relationship between Molly and Cage, I think their first “meeting” was a little fast. I also wanted to know more about what happened to her in the past and not so much her present. But, I will say this, I love what she does in the present. Not to mention, the cliffhanger with Layla. What happened next? There is a cameo if you stick around past the acknowledgements. Overall, I enjoyed it but it could have been better. Not as memorable as Haunting/Hunting Adeline.

This book was fine . I was so excited to learn Molly was getting her own story, from the moment she appeared via journal in Hunting Adeline. I had so many questions. How did she end up with Francesca. How did she escape? What did she do after? And who's Layla? While I did get those answers, it didn't grab me the way I expected.

This story is not anywhere near as dark as the duet. It still has it darks moments with lots of triggers but somehow despite Molly's story being so tragic and awful, it didn't come across the way that I wanted. I understand why this story didn't focus on Molly's time before her escape because it likely would have been repetitive to Adeline's experience. However, I found myself wanting to know more about that time period then the after. I think if this story had been darker, it would have had a bigger impact and I would have loved it more.

This story showed past and present and I just didn't care about the present as much as I wanted to.

This was a faster paced read compared to the cat&mouse duet. I loved the hints sprinkled throughout. I fell in love with the characters, almost as hard as I fell for Addie & Zade. Not as difficult a read, although some parts were dark, but there was less detail. The ending had my vision getting a little blurry. I think the only thing missing (why I didn’t give it 5 stars) is that I felt it was too short, I wanted more, I wanted to spend more time in the past, more time in the present, to see more of her life throughout.
