What is wrong with me?

Seriously. What?

I was generous in my rating for the abysmal “Finger Lickin’ Fifteen”, disappointed even further with “Sizzling Sixteen”; yet not only did I purchase “Smokin’ Seventeen”, I dived straight in full of hope that the Evanovich of old would be back.

Sigh.

Again, what is wrong with me?

As a rule, I try not to give bad reviews. I can’t help but think to all the work the author has put into the piece and after all, it’s all subjective. It’s only my opinion. Reading “Smokin’ Seventeen” I’m not actually sure if ANY work had been put in to it at all. Regurgitated storyline with none of the Evanovich humour. Predictable “twists and turns” pointing to the killer from the start. The only new development is lead character, Stephanie Plum, has become a ho.

Note to self: Do. Not. Read. Explosive. Eighteen. Just don’t do it.

trying to catch up with my stephanie plum...love these characters!

Last book of my 2024 challenge - thank you to Stephanie Plum for getting me through it!! In this one, we had an FTA that was convinced he was a vampire and gave Luka a hickey, the bail bonds office working out of Mooner’s RV, Grandma Bella putting the Vordo on Stephanie, all while a strangler trying to put his moves on her.

I am really not a fan to the whole "open relationship" stuff...... Stephanie should have stayed single until she could decide what guy to try to make things work with. I never liked it when Stephanie was with Morelli and kissing Ranger but now to be with Morelli and having sex with Ranger??? Her cheating got out of hand in this book. I really hope she makes an actual decision on a guy in this next book..............

Despite my complaints, this series is addictive - I couldn't not finish it. What IF something happens with Ranger/Morelli? (Hint: we're finally getting somewhere with this novel!)

Ok, so there ends my run of Stephanie Plum; I wish I had the next book, but that'll have to wait until I've read more of my tbr pile, and for the price to drop.

I've enjoyed all the Stephanie Plum books immensely, so far. Yes, they're pure fluff, but they're funny and entertaining. They aren't perfect, but then what is?

It is with regret that I now turn to a different series (but also, y'know, anticipation!).

As always, fun to read and made me giggle in places. :)

How can you not enjoy a book with an old man who thinks he's a vampire, a trained circus bear as bail collateral, the eye and vordo curses....if only we knew who Stephanie would choose between Morelli and Ranger...

Just a fun book--after 16 previous books you sort of know what's going to happen but they still make me laugh!
