Right book, wrong time. I'll definitely get back to it eventually.

Gail Simone goes weird absurdist comedy superheroics. Always felt this series was underrated among her work. It's bizarre and funny as hell and, in later books, really quite poignant.

I'm liking current Gail Simone more than this. It's an interesting take and somewhat horrific at times, but I just can't connect to the character or story so far. We'll see how it goes in vol. 2.

I don't know what that was, but I grew to hate it pretty quickly.

All I knew going into this graphic novel was that it featured the Atom and was written by Gail Simone. That was enough for me but what I got was a reboot of sorts with Dr. Ryan Choi taking over as the Atom from Ray Palmer. Along the way there is enough body horror and academic humor and high jinks to keep things interesting.

Tries too hard to be Grant Morrison.
