5 DAMN STARS!!!

This has become one of my favorite books of the year, let me say that first. Second, I cried more than I have since reading Lemons by Melissa Savage and that is really hard for a book to do to me. Third, the characters in this book, mainly Starr, gave this book so much life and I loved every single one of them, even plain-ass Chris. The issues this book brought to light had me saying "YES!" every time to the point where my sister came into my room and asked "Who you yelling at?". I can see this becoming a classic in the future and it deserves it so damn much. Angie Thomas is a queen.

I will be talking about this more in my February Reading Wrap Up at the end of the month on my channel, so stay tuned for that. If you still haven't picked this book up, stop playing around and do it. NOW.

I gave this book a complete 5 stars.

I didn't know I could have so many emotions. I felt anger, frustration, helplessness, hopelessness, happiness, sadness, and everything in between. This book was not only relatable it was also heart wrenching in a way. Although we come from two different worlds, the main character Starr experienced, thought of, and felt so many things that I can mirror in my own life. And sadly most of these things I'm talking about would not be felt by everyone. It would Possibly only be felt by minorities.

But given that a lot of people won't feel these things or have these experiences I want to truly truly recommend reading this book, no matter who you are what color you are or where you are from. I recommend while you read To truly truly put yourself in another person's shoes. Because this story is fictional but is so real in so many ways. This story is more real now than ever.

This story makes you ask questions, makes your think what is right what is wrong and just how much the truth can be misconstrued. It also pokes at the media and just how much they paint their pictures.

I loved this book and it will stick with me for a long time. Thought provoking and emotional.

It’s a phenomenally written book, it sheds light on police brutality and racism

I don't think I will ever be able to find the words to explain just how much this book means.

An important book, think this would be great for schools to read and non-Black young people to read.
