I'm a sucker for a good secret baby romance, and this is a goooooood secret baby story.
Young Shay catches the eye of the town golden boy, Kellum, at a bonfire party one night. After their hookup, she winds up pregnant, and when her friend blabs it, the heads of Kellum's family show up to scare her off. She leaves town, but eventually returns trying to get her head above water, and Kellum realizes that she had had his child.
This book is super low steam, and honestly, even the romance is a bit meh, but OMG the story is just so good. I think I just loved this so much because there were so many places where miscommunication could have f**ked everything up, and the author never went there!

It was just so refreshing to have characters act intelligently and share the truth with each other all the time.
So even though I usually prefer my romances a bit more romance-y, this was still a really great read for me.

I normally hate books with kids, but this one was incredibly well done. This world that Cate C. Wells has created in the mountains of Pennsylvania has absolutely sucked me in, and I hope she plans to continue writing in it.
