not what i expected and was pleasantly surprised, read this in one day couldn’t put it down, no real answer at the end which was agonizing but also fitting

I loved this book, but couldn’t justify 5 stars because some things near the end were awfully convenient. Wink, wink.

“I cannot mourn for what I have not known”
What a strange book. It is always interesting to read the story of someone cut off from society but this was beyond anything I’ve ever read before. This line reminded me of the book Hyperion when the Consul states he cannot worry about humanity as a whole when he is preoccupied with the fate of his friends. How can I care about that which I do not know personally? This question is present in everybody’s everyday life. How can I worry about wars and famine and poverty when I am too preoccupied by the worries of those around me? Just gave me a lot to think about
