 ARC Review -
The sweetest story - truly just the embodiment of a good rom-com. Katherine does a really good job to keep you hooked and maintain the storyline at a pace that doesn't feel dragged out but also was not missing any details. I loved the banter between our two main characters from the get go. My heart was swooning the whole time - I als0 loved the sweet bits of advice and inspiration from her father.

Pros: Loveable characters, witty banter, unique plot, and explores grief, growth and forgiveness in a non 'heavy' way.
Cons: I did not love the second person writing; some points it was cute, and others it felt distracting from the story line. I would have loved a bit more interactions between out two MCs - which is a weird considering they lived together for 6 weeks, but at times it felt like a recanting of moments from Emma's pov and not the real thing.

Overall - I adored this book so much!!

This book is a journey. It's full of witty banter throughout with literary puns thrown in that will make any book nerd smile!

I found this book to be very endearing.  I won't lie, there are some heavier parts in this book that left me confused with how I felt about the book.  In the end I decided I really did enjoy it, and the Rom-com aspect of it was great!

This book does deal with some heavy topics: death, accidents, injuries, cancer.  So keep that in mind if you have those are your trigger warnings.

I received a courtesy ARC copy of this book from NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Katherine Center.  All thoughts and ratings of this book are my own, and without expectation.

Emma Wheeler, a devoted daughter and aspiring rom-com writer, has tasked herself with caring for her disabled father following a tragic accident. When her best friend and former boyfriend, Logan, presents her with a life-changing opportunity, Emma takes a leap of faith, leaving her father in the care of her younger sister, Sylvie.

Enter Charlie Yates, a renowned screenwriter faced with an unusual challenge: to write a romantic comedy, a genre outside his comfort zone. Logan orchestrates a collaboration between Emma and Charlie, forcing them to work together on what could be the most epic rom-com ever. However, Charlie isn’t into the plan and is used to working solo, creating tension between the two.

I promise this story will tug at your heartstrings, with Emma’s father’s situation, flirty banter and moments of humor, even some dramatic and stressful moments that brought tears to my eyes. The Rom-Commers is packed with all my favorite tropes, including forced-proximity, grumpy v sunshine, and strangers-to-lovers, making it an easy 5 star read for me - my first of 2024!

Please be mindful of TW’s when reading this story and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

The only gentle critique I have about this book is that at times, I noticed a few words that felt a bit like leafing through a thesaurus. Overall, though, 'The Rom-Commers' is a delightful journey that I'd gladly take again!

A huge thank you to Katherine Center and NetGalley for this eARC.

The Rom-Commers will release on June 11, 2024.

Q: What was the last big leap of faith you took? Or would you rather co-write or co-star in a romantic comedy?
