This book is magical realism, romance PERFECTION. I love Sarah's poetic writing style. I loved Fiona and Aaron, I loved Daniel and Max and Amy and little Sean!!!! Every aspect, every chapter, everything was so well carved out and written, this book is an absolute GEM. Sarah writes in a way that is captivating but doesn't dangle carrots. She is an instant read and instant buy for me.

I liked this one, but not as much as the first book. I was forever frustrated with Becca and Robert and what Fiona leaving did to Aaron every single time.
It was quite sad.
I love the magical realism of these books, though. It gives me this feeling I can't describe when I read them. I did enjoy this one. I hope the 4th book is best of them all.

I genuinely don’t know how she does it, but Sarah manages to make me so anxious, amazed and delighted with every book she writes.
Fiona and Aaron’s story was… just, amazing. A thousand emotions, especially in relation to Fiona’s feelings about family and love. Such a beautiful, devastating, magical love story to time, to family and to romance.

This book was so sighhhhhh. I really hated for it to end.
Fiona is a successful business woman and single mom. During a party, she is shot. This triggers her mother to show up with a family heirloom. It allows you to dream your hearts desire and hers lives on an island with 2 kids and she inhabits the body of the wife who longs for another.
UGHHHHHH it was so good. Watching Fiona and Aaron fall in love in her dreams was so magical. It was very hallmark magical and I love books that do this. Fiona lives her regular life when she is awake and her dream life when she sleeps.
I won't spoil it for you but it is such a lovely story and I highly recommend it if you like clean romance with a lot of cuteness.

Fated is part of a series which i didnt know but i was able to read it as a standalone very easily. It is an interesting book and premise about a woman who is afraid to love who uses a magic watch to live her dreams while sleeping. In her dreams she meets a man and has a whole other family, but she is in the body of possible the worst woman ever. I thought the story was so interesting but I was so taken out by how horrible the woman, Becca was and how Aaron was hurt through the whole thing as well as their children. And then there was a twist that was so surprising and jarring that it took me a little out of the story but ended on a high note. I liked it and kept reading, i wanted to see how it ended but I am not sure i loved it.
Fiona is confident and fulfilled by her work and her role as a mother. She finds love and support from her brother and best friend, From the outside things are going well. However, she feels emotionally stuck. She wonders if she is missing romantic love and feels like she has forgotten how to dream. Outside of work and motherhood, she has lost her identity. So when her estranged, hippy mother gives her the tools to explore her heart's deepest desire through her dreams, Fiona takes a chance and begins exploring a dream world where her nights are spent on a tropical island with a handsome man called Aaron. Will her dreams become reality?
This book includes:
- a love triangle/maybe it's a love web? idk
- mini cameos from some of Sarah Ready's other popular characters
- dream life vs life of your dreams dilemma
- missed opportunities and regrets
- second chance romance and friends to lovers
- TW: gun violence but just in one scene
"Fated" is a reflection on what it's like to have everything in life, but give up your personal life to do so. Watching Fiona realize she is unhappy and trying to navigate the epiphany was interesting, especially since her adult life is very privileged. I enjoyed that the book acknowledged that women have the right to have deep desires behind their fulfilling careers and roles as mothers.
I am a huge fan of Sarah Ready and constantly reflect on the impact her books have made on me. They are delightful to read and are each as impactful and wonderfully excruciating as the last. Unfortunately, this one didn't hit the mark as well for me. "Fated" is well written with a cast of interesting and dynamic characters. Nothing can take away from that. Fiona's general demeanor was very realistic and three-dimensional (which is great) but she's just not my cup of tea. Maybe she was too real for me haha. Each of her decisions stressed me out so badly, and I felt like she was engaging in some infidelity even tho technically she never was. I DNF at 90% because the book just gave me so much anxiety and I couldn't do it anymore. Again, this is not a reflection on the writing or even the plot, just wasn't a match for me. Sarah remains one of my instant-read romance authors.
I received this audiobook as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC, and Sarah Ready for the opportunity to review this book.

She meets the man of her dreams in her dreams.
Fiona Abry excels at keeping busy, running her family’s Swiss watch company, and guarding her heart. She is so busy she does not have time for a vacation much less a love life.
But then she is given a family heirloom rumored to let you dream your greatest desire. Suddenly, Fiona is spending her nights on a tiny tropical island in a completely different life. She is married. She has two kids. She lives in a colorful cottage on the beach.
This dream life is so different from her hectic, busy life in the city that Fiona decides to live her dreams to the fullest. Swimming in the turquoise sea. Picnics under palms. Star-gazing on the beach. It is a slow, seductive dream life that conveniently stays in her dreams.
But after kisses and confessions and long nights on the beach, Fiona starts to fall hard for her dream husband and her dream life. But what happens when opening yourself to love means falling for a life that isn’t real and a man who doesn’t exist?
Because in the end, it is not fate, it is just a dream.
Switched would probably still be my favourite of this series (out of all the ones I have read). Fated just left me very confused. I could not keep up with when Fiona was dreaming and when she was in her real life. I just had such a hard time connecting with Fiona or caring about her. I absolutely did not like the third act breakup which was unnecessary but when we got to the ending it was like finally, took you long enough. I really wanted to like this book but Fiona had me up a wall. The book was too descriptive, wordy and kind of boring. It was also a bit too disjointed. I guess I did not like this one as much was also because magical realism is not my cup of tea. But Ready can really write and her romances are usually really good, and I cannot wait to read Wished soon. I would definitely recommend to check out this series.
