Very sweet second-chance love story with some adorably charming grandmothers. I think the main characters, Elle and Mari, are the highlight and it's really nice to see them come back together. However, the dialogue is pretty stilted, and sounds more like an early draft that could have been polished up. I also wish the plot overall had been more fleshed out; it kinda jumped from point to point without much muscle in between.
Also I really wanna play bingo now...

Is it terribly kitschy? Sure. 
Would I have enjoyed it if it was a straight story? Nah. 
Did I love seeing a couple of elderly POC lesbians going though this story? Heck yeah.

I LOVED this story, it was so sweet and so emotional. I will say there were a few pacing and writing things that I felt could have been better but overall I loved the story and really enjoyed the characters. The black and queer representation was beautiful and the story was sweet and emotional.

This is a story about two best friends who fall in love but are torn apart because their romance is deemed "wrong. They are torn apart and 50 years later they stumble into each other and have to figure out if they are willing to give up all that they have for a second chance.

I recommend getting this Jackpot Edition for the extra stories. I was able to read it on Hoopla. Very good and highly recommend. About 2 black girls who fall in love in the 60s and end up in hetero marriages but find each other 50 years later.
