After growing up with an unconventional childhood and mostly absent, flighty mother, introvert Nina Hill enjoys the comfort of well-organized life. A job surrounded by books, nights of quiet reading alongside her cat punctuated with predictable, regularly scheduled social breaks with the usual people. This works a dream until a family revelation upends her carefully curated life, and a potential love interest causes her to question if her love of rules and structure is working as well as she thinks it is.
Charming and often funny, it's also a great portrayal of introvert life (it's not that we're antisocial, we just want to be prepared and recharge afterwards). Also, neurodivergence--we know Nina has anxiety but a number of her behaviors also closely resemble an undiagnosed adult with ADHD or possibly Autism--it doesn't matter in a sense if this coding is actually intended, it just means there will be a number of people who will find a lot to relate to.

This was a cute book, and it made me laugh out loud quite a bit! The story isn’t groundbreaking or anything, but it was a fun and enjoyable book to listen to.

Cute, easy read with likeable and relatable characters. Not my usual read but I enjoyed it once I got into it.
A quirky, slightly anxious bookstore employee finds herself pulled out of her comfort zone by a new family, a new romance, and challenges at work. This was a light, fun, and often laugh-out-loud read. Although slightly predictable, there wasn’t much here I didn’t enjoy.
Nina is an unusual mix of introverted and outward aggressive but not wholly unlikeable. While I’m not sure I’d want to be friends with someone who constantly inserts trivia into conversation, I genuinely enjoyed spending time with her in these pages.
