Loved, loved, loved this. I love a good series and often get as much, if not more, out of the subplots as the main plots and boy does this new series have brilliant subplots. Meet Madison and Nate, two ex cons who have both been released from prison, one from death row after being exonerated, the other an early realise on their sentence, both innocent of their crimes. A brilliant back story to start a new series with. The main story revolves around the investigation into a missing child and so begins a great plot that twists and turns to a totally unexpected finale. Nate and Madison work out who they can trust, indeed if they can even trust one another when trust is the one thing that’s been lacking in both their lives for years . Really looking forward to seeing how this story develops over the series. Oh and let’s not forget Brody, the gentle giant of the K9 world.

The story takes off with Nate Monroe, who was released from the jail (after 19 years) after proving his innocence for the murder of his fiancée, Stacey starts working as a PI. He then pairs up with Madison Harper, who was a former detective and who was also released from the prison for serving up a crime she didn’t commit. They both, as a team, set off to find a twelve-year-old girl named Jenny, who had been missing from the summer camp. The girl’s grandmother, Esme, hired them, although both the parents seemed to be wary for Nate and Madison to investigate the case because of some unknown reasons.

The book is a well-written, unputdownable thriller. The investigation is fast-paced, and there is hardly any point where it slows down. The writer did an outstanding job in keeping the reader hooked throughout the book. The ending was something I couldn’t guess. It was a surprise and shock. AND it has a cliffhanger ending.

From page one I was absorbed into the book, and it gripped me all the way through. This is the first time I have read anything by this author, and clearly, it won’t be the last. Eagerly waiting to read the next part in this series.
