This comic continues to be very entertaining! Gwen Poole has a Mile Morales team-up that didn't annoy me and there is a Squirrel Girl and Doom Bot cameo.

This volume actually made me consider whether I had enough fangirl-turned-protagonist characters to get back into academia and start writing a paper.
Luckily I had a lie down and the urge went away....

i needed this laughter so much, hahaha. GwenPool remains my fav choice to go to when I'm feeling down and need to laugh
Gwen (not to be confused with Gwen Stacey) is at her antics again in this second volume of her own series. Gwen is a comic geek that comes from our world who is one day sucked into the Marvel comic world. Understanding superhero comics' writing and structure, Gwen decides to become a superhero and behaves pretty recklessly (believing that nothing can happen to her because she's The Protagonist). In volume 1, she accidentally became the head of M.O.D.O.K. Volume 2 we find her trying to run the organization while also dealing with an alien mob that aren't too pleased with her.
This series is so much fun. I love that this title shakes up the superhero formula, and even though the humour largely hinges on Gwen's knowledge of superhero comics, it's an oddly accessible title. I would heartily recommend this series to people who want to read superhero comics but aren't sure where to start.
My only quibble about this volume is that I wasn't fond of the art style (done by Strychalski) for the first couple of issues. It's got a manga feel to it that is reminiscient of Gurihiru, but it missed the mark for me. I was much happier when Gurihiru was back at the helm - their art style is so clean and their character designs are adorable (a perfect fit for this series).
I'm so glad that there are 3 more volumes of this series to read (though I'm super bummed that Marvel has dropped this title).

This series of comics are just so much fun, but somehow, sometimes hard hitting. The fact that Gwen was a fangirl before joining the Marvel universe makes her interactions with new heroes much more interesting than they would have been, so the crossovers with Miles Morales in this book was definitely a highlight. The side characters are also well written but do not take away from Gwen’s (sometimes self-proclaimed) spotlight.
