2.5 stars. It was ok. I liked it better than the 2nd book but still no where as much as the 1st. The connection between Tris and Four never recaptured that spark from book one.
Found the series to be particularly unconvincing and full of plot holes, especially this 3rd novel. Seemed like the author got lazy and wanted to tie up the story line quickly.
I'm really unhappy with this book and with Roth. I thought the original idea of Allegiant was interesting, but poorly executed. Also, if the title of the book is about a group that bands together to save their way of life, it would be a little more about that group, right? Tris and her band of misfits basically leave the city and forget about them for much of the book.
Also, I did not like the flip flopping of Tris/Tobias. Again, good in theory but poorly executed. Tobias's "voice" didn't sound any different that Tris, and there were several times that I had to check to see who's perspective I was reading.
Finally, the ending...completely obvious 100 pages before it happens. I really feel it was a cop-out for Roth and not very creative. At that point, we all knew what was going to happen to Tris, and I think we were all hoping we were wrong. I absolutely hate writers that can't leave well enough alone.
Overall, I'm really disappointed with Allegiant. Especially since Roth took over a year to write it. Really, Roth, what were you doing in that year? Because Allegiant feels rushed and unpolished. I feel that Roth will lose a lot of fans from this, myself included.

I was very disappointed in the conclusion of this series.
I was highly disappointed in this book. The ending felt rushed and I didn't really care about what happened to ANY of the characters.
So I wanted to give this 4 stars but it's only getting 3 because I didn't devour the book until the last 80 pages. For me, portions of the ending were predictable, and maybe that was the intention. That said, I liked that this book wasn't all fight and adventure, that things slowed down a bit and there was more background and resolution to why their world is the way it is. After reading this book, I recommended the series to a few people - I like the trilogy and will enjoy seeing it as a movie. But know that the series was clearly written to be made into movies, not for the sake of the story itself. It's meant to be candy but so much better than chic lit.
I don't know how to rate this. There were some really wonderful things about this book....and some really stupidly improbably things (ie, "The Bureau" magically listens to everything and nothing depending on whether it serves the plot at each point). The ending redeems it some, I think.
The ending is suck... i just cant believe that happened in the end.... Arggggghhhhhhhhhhhh !
Tris and Tobias ... istill hoping there will be a miracle to Tris ...
