Sort of silly. Much more about self-love than romantic love, which is nice, but not what I was hoping for. Both Hutch and Katie were sweet characters (and Rue and George Bailey). I just wish we had a little more time with them.

I think, as a Romance, it breaks the mold in some surprising ways. There is a third act break up and a happily ever after, but
none of the conflict is the main character’s fault, and the mmc gets that and isn’t mass, which to be honest, I love that, but I think some romance fans probably find boring.
I’ve read some reviews that say “I only cared about the dog” and I think that’s probably due to the lack of conflict, rather than because the characters are undeveloped. Or maybe those people just hate fun.

I picked this up because I wanted something light and fluffy and I wasn’t disappointed.

This was an okay romcom for an in-between read. TW: the FMC has an ED history and one of the main plot points in the book is her navigating body image issues. I’m used to Katherine’s blend of heavier themes with cheeky romance, but this one felt over the top. The left turn that the second half of the book took went over the edge of theatrical drama that I couldn’t quite buy into. Same for the MMC’s hot-and-cold behavior. Rue was my favorite side character whereas the others at the end seemed more for shock value than relevance. Despite my qualms, it held my interest and had me laughing at times.
