This book is great. It stands up on a reread so well, and it’s also fun to see the foreshadowing and the little Easter eggs.
The plot is definitely the weakest part of the book until the last hour or so. This is definitely a romance first, high fantasy second. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll have a lot of fun!
The relationship progression is definitely fast, but I can see why. The characters in this book all deserve so much room for growth and development, and I’m excited to see it in the rest of my reread.
My original rating stands up. 4.5 stars.

I liked that Feyre got to be more independent and really got to explore the different courts and areas. I enjoyed getting to learn about something other than spring court. And I very much enjoyed her relationship form with Rhys. It felt so much more genuine than her relationship with Tamlin in ACOTAR.
The world building for Velaris was beautifully written and I enjoyed the different characters that were brought in like Cassian, Azriel, and and Mor. I’m looking to find out more about Amren in the next book since I feel she still has a lot of secrets.

Minor: Confinement, Panic attacks/disorders, and Toxic relationship
The book discusses trauma the characters have recently and/or have previously experienced, and these are all adressed with some sort of healing or coping mechanism. The book tackles the mechanism of a toxic relationship between two main characters. The book also mentions the consensual yet non-consensual physical affair with imbalanced power dynamics that happened on the prior book.spicycronereads's review against another edition
