For me, even this grade is too much. I am only giving this book a two for certain moments where I got Christian and Gianna and certain moments where I liked Mila. I couldn’t bring myself to like Ronan at any point in this book. Even at the beginning, he was so suspicious - I just knew something was off. Ugh, just thinking of reading this book gives me the shivers. Unwanted ones. I legit don't understand what there is to like about the main ship, I don't get it, maybe I am blind in that aspect of not seeing the oh so adoring love between Ronan and Mila but... I just can't. I liked certain characters mentioned in the book, as I said mentions of Christian and Gianna as well as "Igor". I really liked their "friendship" if you can call it that? I wanted more of them together. That’s it really.

While I did like this book… before supporting Ms. Lori, I do suggest looking up her past history

Ronan, immediately no.
Did morally questionable things that I couldn’t shake off. EVER.

Age gap was annoying. Stockholm Syndrome is a NO from me.

The Gianna and Christian feature made the scarring experience bearable.

I was a bit wary of reading this book because I strongly disliked the second one. Then I felt bad for not liking it since it was well written and I decided to give the series another shot.

And here we are. I picked it up with no expectations whatsoever and now that I've finished I have to say that I really liked it.

For the first 20%, I was so happily surprised, I loved every bit of that first part, I was hooked and already in love with Mila and Ronan and their palpable chemistry.

But since this is a dark romance, it took a dark twist. A very dark one. Which, I was kind of expecting but some parts were really really dark. Let me be clear, this is a heavy enemies to lovers and a captor-captive situation. It gets very heavy at some points so you're warned.

Now, my experience with Wattpad fics has made me so that the whole kidnapping situation didn't phaze me much. I think there were some instances where Ronan toed the line of being irredeemable both to Mila and me as a reader but ultimately, he never did.

He's not that much better than Christian to be fair but idk, there's something about him that pulls me to him. So, yep, I struggled alongside Mila with my feelings for him but as she did, eventually he won me over. I mean, tattooed fingers, pack of dogs, a library full of classics, willing to become vegan bc Mila is and well, I might have a soft spot for Russian now bc of him.

Now, Mila is a totally different story. I love her to pieces. She's kind, witty, has principles, she's vegan and an ecologist. She's pure light and the ambassador of "kill them with kindness". She's always felt a bit of an outcast but she's willing to fight for what she believes in. Never once has she lost her grace or her kindness and I think that's really queen-like of her. I just related to her so much and she and Ronan but not only, have such great banter and I swear I could feel their chemistry.

If it wasn't for that big chunk of the story that got very very dark, I'm shocked to say that I would have probably given this book five stars.

Sometimes, the plot isn't the real star of a book but its characters are and well, this is definitely the case.

Mila definitely deserves five stars.
