This killed the series. Even in my Russian-mafia standard this was off. There was tension, yes, but there was no chemistry.

i haven't felt physically violent in a while, but this book made me want to fight someone. also, made me hate the color yellow.
also genuinely have no idea how this is meant to be a romance. ronan is deplorable piece of shit and mila is a self absorbed idiot.

Review: This book is very loosely connected to the first book in this series so it took a little bit of adjustment for me to learn the characters. (We do get some scenes with The Maddest Obsession characters though so that's nice!) I love a good beauty and the beast inspired romance and this one did not disappoint. I am a huge fan of stories where the MMC speaks a language that the FMC does not, or very loosely, understands (thank you to my Kindle for the translate feature). The middle of this book was a little drawn out for me and the resolution was a little too quick in the end.

Likes: cameos from MC’s from the previous book, realistic fear surrounding kidnapping, addressing stockholm syndrome

Dislikes: third quarter breakup, a little longer than necessary, quick resolution
Tropes: Forced proximity, rival families, kidnapping

because of the nature of the book, captor/captive, my emotions were all over the place. i wanted mila to be with ronan, but then didn't because he did some really questionable things. it was crazy, messed up and yes, i was conflicted. an emotional roller coaster to say the least.

Awful disgusting you can’t have the mmc do the stuff that Ronan did to the fmc and except the audience to want them to be together after all that. Like just no it’s Stockholm syndrome and abuse. I love dark romance but this book is not dark romance this is abuse you can only come back from so much and have the audience like the mmc but after what he did
pretending to be her protector and friend for WEEKS then just turning it off and keeping her hostage as your fucking sex slave like bitch why would we like you after that!!!!!
just a super problematic book. The only reason I finished it was because I had read the other two in the series. I gotta say the series has gone down hill since the first book. Christian in the second was tolerable but I hated him most of the book but Ronan is just a fucking monster that deserves to be alone 😡. Will not be continuing this series and will not be reading anymore of her books
