loved ! so much tenderness at the heart of this book. genuine & compassionate. i have read a lottt of books about sisterhood. it seems that as with any topic that has proven to sell books with the female demographic, there is shitloads of books about sisters. but this one is in some ways a standout, the depiction is real & raw, affecting & beautiful but not pretty. i found the storyline about chronic pain intensely affecting in a way that will obviously not be a surprise if you know me. it felt very validating to see a storyline about that kind of female pain in a work of fiction, i don’t feel like i’ve read it before. also felt like the topic of addiction was approached with the kind of knowledge, compassion & sincerity that it often lacks. as a slight critique, i feel like there is a little bit of pretension in the way mellors writes, as with cleo & frank it is just oh so very new york, in a way i find quite charming but i imagine would be tedious if that wasn’t your cup of
