Despite the writing being subpar and the sequence of events needing some editing… this story was actually not bad
I got it on stuff you kindle day and it wasn’t the usual and predictable storyline

A very different origin story for not only our female protagonist, Abigail (Abi) Byler, but also for the vampires themselves. The story begins with Amish 17 yr old Abigail and 3 friends attending a bonfire during their RumspringaI. This is Abigail's very first party and it has devastating consequences. I really like Abi and Reece. There are a few promising side characters also. The "Queen" is a piece of work for sure and I am not trusting anyone in power at this point. This ends on a cliffhanger, definitely no HEA or even a HFN, but Abi and her new friends are choosing their own path.

I will read book 2, but will wait until book 3 is out. Possibly until 4. Lol I have "Need To Know Now Syndrome (NTKNS).

The genre and the overall idea of the series is intriguing in theory but falls short in execution. It's very fast paced, skips ahead in time a lot, overlooks certain aspects of the storyline, plotholes. Feels like it was written for wattpad (not in a good way). This coudl've been really good if they sat on it a little longer and workshopped a little harder. There isn't really anything to the love interest aside from meeting at a party once, then flashfoward like four months and they are destined to be togehter but the chemistry is so lackluster.

Eh it was fine - surprisingly boring though given the plot. Tbh i dont get what is so special about Abbi that Imogen wont just go and make another ‘daughter.’ The conflict felt quite forced and i would have like Abbi’s Amish upbringing to influence the story a bit more.

This was a cute and lighthearted darker fantasy.  Yes, I wrote those words.  The premise is dark, but moments felt more like a cute romcom than a dark vampire fantasy.  And then other moments reminded me this is a vampire book.  The love story felt a bit rushed, but still believable, especially for a naïve former Amish girl.

This books romance had me super confused..and it felt rather rushed in general. I wouldn’t say it’s a horrible read but the plot didn’t capture me completely and I finished the book thinking “is that it?”

Mmm, It was alright! I was really captivated in the beginning.. it moved quickly and kept me engaged. Though, as I kept reading I realized that some chapter ended a bit abruptly at times.. the timeline and flow of subsequent events didn’t seem progress very smoothly. I also felt like towards the end it became a bit rushed and slightly confusing. Some of the events that would happen towards the end would be a bit random and sudden. Though, lots of potential :) I will continue reading and finish the series!
