You can tell this is a debut novel, that tries to pack a lot in a short amount of time. My main issue is that Ember literally commits crimes and things happen so quickly you have to suspend disbelief.

Although the writing was a little cliche and immature at times the romance parts and the whole racial inequity things were spot on. This book really grew on me and the rating did too as I finished it.
