If you enjoyed "I'm Glad My Mom Died", then PLEASE give this one a read!   This book gave a sense of authenticity, openness, and a sense of connection that kept me captivated til the end. I personally relate to Britney's story, and her writing is absolutely phenomenal. The audio book by Michelle Williams is a great way to enjoy the story!

After reading this book in its entirety, I really feel for Britney. Everything from being sexualized as a child, having an alcoholic father, many emotionally abuse family members, forced institutionalization, and being torn down by the media.

You can tell this is written by someone who still needs a lot of healing and probably has severe PTSD. I'm glad she was able to open up about her experiences. She doesn't go too deep in this book, but maybe in due time she will write more. Either way, she has her life back and she can do whatever the heck she wants.

I wasn't a huge fan of the first half of this book, but I think I "get it" now. It follows a timeline of her life. It begins with very simple writing, not many strong opinions, and brushes off negative events. But as the story progresses and she gets older, I can tell her identity, thoughts, and mannerisms shift. Britney seems like a fundamentally sweet person, and the things that happened to her were so not fair.

I think the audiobook version is the best way to experience this piece. You can tell that Britney is in the healing process while writing her story. Hearing it delivered was much more powerful, especially as I think I would get lost in the writing style.

My favorite parts of the book being Britney before the conservatorship and especially what she thinks of her own music/work

I was surprised how fast the book moved but it wasn't in a bad way at all

I'm also surprised how much I highlighted like there are so many things she said I relate to or thought of myself about the world and human connection etc

Overall a great book

This book really made me think about everything related to being a celebrity to the level that Britney is. It brings up some of the lesser spoken about (to my knowledge) parts of it all, like how aggressive paparazzi can be.

I personally didn't know much about her before I read this book, but I vaguely do remember seeing some of the #freeBritney stuff and hearing some things about her. But having now read this book it makes me quite curious about some of her music.
