I preferred normal people but I think I enjoyed it more than Conversations with friends because the characters are a little more likeable. They seem quite realistic as well, as they reminded me of people I know and of myself at times. What I dislike is that the female characters in her books are all quite similar (skinny, depressed, fragile, masochistic). I really hope we get to read a novel by Sally rooney about a bold, dominant but good natured female main character.

O final feliz me aquietou um pouco. Por isso, 4 estrelas.

2.5 Stars- I feel like nothing happened this entire book? Truly how could it be so long and the author described the character's actions SO in depth, and yet.... nothing happened.

Kind of a vibe though?

I would describe the first 1/3 of this book as intellectual smut if that intrigues anyone.

I absolutely adored this book! I listened to it on audiobook on my drive to work every morning. It was such a phenomenal book that I want to buy a physical copy for myself. I would say more, but I’ll save it for my book blog. I’m devastated that it’s over but feel so satisfied by the end at the same time. I think I liked it more than Normal People!

This was a good story in typical Sally Rooney fashion about changing relationships and personal growth, compounded with ideas of mental health struggles and communication issues within issues. It also has the common theme of family troubles. All in all, it shares themes with Normal People and Conversations With Friends, but it’s another solid and enjoyable read.
