This was a breezy, stimulating read that covered macro and micro topics. The love stories were realistic and jarring, similarly to the characters themselves. It was relatable and relieving all in one.

bardzo dobra książka. pięknie uzupełniał mi się obraz, gdy Rooney raz aż boleśnie przybliżała się do bohaterów, żeby potem oddalić się i znów spojrzeć na to, że świat nie kończy się na tej jednej rozmowie, a Ziemiq wciąż się kręci. nie polubiłam nikogo z całej czwórki, ale czuję, bez tak właśnie miało być. widziałam ich takich, jakimi są, niemożliwych do jednoznacznego moralnego ocenienia. i obdarzyłam ich dużą dozą sympatii za te błędy i za ludzkość, zwyczajne człowieczeństwo.

i ach, ten pięknie zachowany balans między rozmyślaniami i refleksjami o rzeczach wielkich, a wątkami relacyjnymi i zawiłościami codzienności, które czasem aż przyćmiewają obraz wszystkiego poza nimi.

i mimo wszystko, smutny obraz współczesnych 30-latków mi się z tego wyłania - bardzo pogubionych, czujących, że zmarnowali życie. ważne dla mnie w kontekście mojego rozumienia świata

First book I've read by Sally Rooney, and honestly I did like it! I cannot really express my feelings about it yet, so I might edit this review later on, or I might not, who knows!

Two things I didn't like about the book is that the writer didn't use indications for when people we're having a conversation/emailing with each other. It was also sometimes very unclear who we were reading about > no POV announcements.

This is the first Sally Rooney book I’ve read…having watched Normal People I thought I’d give the author a go and picked this one up! I enjoyed it thoroughly and it was the perfect book to get me back into reading. Believable relationships and character interaction with lovely development. Wasn’t 100% what I expected from the title and the “moved me to tears more than once” on the front cover…I didn’t cry at all…am I made of stone??? Definitely going to check out Conversations with Friends next!
