I found it hard to get into the characters, other than Ricoc and Liam. I liked the concept of the quotes to introduce each chapter, but sometimes it felt too spoiler-y. However, the fantasy elements are so fun. I enjoyed reading about how the dragons and signets work.

This was actually my second read and oh boy i caught up on so many details i missed the first time around! This book reminds me of game of thrones, hunger games, and divergent mixed together! I have not loved a fantasy book like this in years. It drew me in so quickly and i felt immersed in the world. I had the pleasure of reading it this time with the graphic audio and omg the experience of this was OUTSTANDING!

Fantasy isn’t generally a preferred genre for me, but I picked up Fourth Wing after several recommendations from friends and book lists. My biggest regret is that I didn’t read it sooner.

The story starts with Violet Sorrengail entering Basgiath War College. She comes from a well-connected, high-ranking Navarrian family. Though physically small, Violet is determined to prove to herself (and everyone else) that she belongs in the riders quadrant and not the scribe quadrant, where she thought she’d end up for most of her young life. Throughout the book, Violet experiences huge personal growth, meets a diverse cast of characters - some much more likable than others, establishes herself as a skilled rider, and learns a host of secrets about her family and the kingdom she thought she knew.

Yarros tells a spellbinding story that had me hooked from page one. Fourth Wing is intense, captivating, and emotional. Its fantastical elements remind me of a darker version of Harry Potter. The characters are well-written and well-developed. The story moves at a great pace and the cliff hanger at the end made my jaw drop.

Fourth Wing is easily one of the best books I’ve read this year. 10/10 recommend!

I loved this book! It was fun and a page turner. I loved the main characters and the side ones too!

This book seriously had me gasping every couple of pages with twists and turns. You cheered, you got angry, you cried (a lot), and you swooned. It was tension filled and had me screaming at the book. But it was worth the wait!

What to expect:
- Enemies to lovers
- forced proximity
- training
- shadow daddy
- dragons and dragon bonding
- tension and slow burn
- found family

Overall: 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 2/5 🔥🔥

This book was certainly entertaining. I do have to admit there were some points that started to drag for me, maybe too much of telling me as a reader not enough showing. I didn’t need to know Violets every waking thought every time she saw Xaden, I was like girl you are giving to thirsty. I wish she would have had more inner empowerment without needing to wait for a guy to tell her what to do through so much of this book. I just wanted her to be more confident in her intelligence.

If we removed the spicy and suggestive scenes this book felt very young adult. I felt like the more political or economic make up just didn’t hit hard enough for me, or what I would expect from an adult fantasy.

I do give credit where it is due however and I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would.

I'm just going to spoiler tag the following because it's questions and musings and I don't want to spoil accidentally...
Why is it that riders are the ones that are considered needing to be culled out? Why is it that they are weak when they are JUST learning how to ride a dragon and they fall to their deaths. Like bro, they've never been on an -actual- dragon before. Why is it that the riders are weak and not the dragons for letting their riders die? The dragons can't protect their riders appropriately and the riders are considered weak while still in the learning stages?
Curious as to how they are going to explain Andarna's change in physicality since humans don't seem to know that feather tails are babies and they think that they are a totally different breed.
Why can't unbonded dragons fight alone or in unbonded riots?

How and when did Violet become the best knife thrower? When did she practice this while training to become a scribe and while she only had 6 months to prep for being a rider?

If marked ones aren't allowed to meet or gather in groups of 3+ how did Xaden manage to get a full squad of marked ones together for War Games?? That alone should have been a tip off/red flag that something was going wrong, that higher ups allowed that.

Plot twists were easy to spot, easy to tell which characters had 'plot armor'. Narrators were fantastic for the audiobook, though I'm confused WHY we needed two of them when the POV switch is literally in the last couple of chapters and doesn't last long...

10000/10 absolutely amazing. I was hooked from the very beginning. So many jaw-droppint moments. HIGHLY recommend listening to the audiobook with the full cast- like a movie but without the picture. Definitely worth the wait!
I'll be buying these books for my personal collection. Just... stunning.

4.25 out of 5 stars

Really ended up loving this but DO NOT RECOMMEND the audiobook as it almost made me give up on the book completely. However, couldn’t give it 5 because Liam hurts my soul 😭
