If you’re in the mood for a story about a sweet, small town with a host of lovable characters look no further. The fact that there’s a librarian who has books speak to her just put it over the top for me. Looking forward to reading more books in this series. :)

The Book Charmer by Karen Hawkins
Starts out with Dove family and how things work in the town.
Others have moved on and some strange things occur and new neighbors move in years later.
Sarah runs the library and she knows her books will help others as she doles them out...
Grace is raising her deceased daughters child along with Mama G a woman who had fostered the two girls when she was younger-she now has Alzheimer's disease.
Grace left her big paying job to take town clerks position without knowing what all was involved-she's learning along the way about all the committees she's in charge of.
Like how we learn more about PTSD also as Travis suffers from it and is trying to overcome it...
Love all the tips about running the apple festival-such great ideas and with the whole town helping....
Amazing how things come together, magical even.

“Sarah was a voracious reader, and she’d found friends hiding between the pages of books. For her, the trips to the library meant more than the refreshing burst of air-conditioning. They were life.”

I want Sarah and all the people of Dove Pond to be my friends!

So sweet it made my teeth hurt. Great fun plot but the writing was too saccharine.

I loved this book so much. I loved the warm and caring people of Dove Pond and the way the community came together to support each other. And I loved the magic of the books.

Grace, Mama G, and Daisy are a family, a family that has had their share of troubles and drama. The move to Dove Pond is only temporary, just until Grace can save enough money to move them all back to the city. But... the town and people of Dove Pond have a different plan for this little family.

Grace meets Sarah, the town librarian, and they don’t hit it off... at all. There’s definitely trouble there. But Sarah has the power and wisdom of the books to help her break through Grace’s hard exterior. I’ve always felt that books are special, so to read about the connections the books have with Sarah and how they seem to know what everyone needs made The Book Charmer such an entertaining book to read.

And I love how the ending left the future wide open for more book magic. I can’t wait to go back to Dove Pond and find out what the books have in store for everyone. The author has more stories in her head about this wonderful community, book #2, A Cup of Silver Linings will be out July 7, 2020.
