Bittersweet, wryly funny, obviously affectionate.

My only complaint was that the narration from the author was a little monotonous, which combined with the accent and the rumbling of my car engine at an almost identical pitch made it impossible to listen to during my commute. But I think that sort of dry, unaffected  delivery was also necessary for the humor to come across properly, so I can’t even really complain about that.

A touching story that neatly straddles personal loss and grief with the greater effect of growing up on the border during the troubles, all without being maudlin or shallow. Really well done and much funnier than you’re probably expecting.

Stop the lights, this is the most singularly hilarious book I’ve ever read.
