Imposter

Oh my wow! That ending was certainly something! I’m kinda surprised that calla didn’t figure out who her friends were sooner. It seemed pretty obvious to me and I think I might have the story figured out (at least somewhat) but I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

Wasn't quite what I expected from Tate James having listened to the Hades series first.

Interested to move to the second book.

I enjoyed this book a lot, it started out extremely fast paced and through the middle did drag a bit. They don't leave the castle and so the story becomes a bit stagnant as she's just learning all out the history of their kingdom and trying to learn the trials. That's not to say a lot isn't happening it just was slower than I anticipated given the first few chapters were very engaging. I still enjoyed this book a ton and have started the second. The audiobook is very well done I love the MFC voice.

I listened to the audio for the majority of this one, and surprisingly, it wasn't my favorite. Tate's audiobooks are generally sooooo good, and while this one was duet narration like the Shadow Grove series, there was just something about the male narrator especially that I didn't love.

Once I switched over to reading the book on kindle though, I really started to fall in love with the characters and the story more. As is her usual MO, there was an enormous cliffy at the end of this one, but fortunately I was reading the "complete series" and just kept right on flipping the pages without pause... and let me tell you, you're going to want to do the same!!

This book is not really spicy, but I would anticipate that changing as the series progresses.

this book is extremely predictable wannabe throne of glass reverse harem (minus any real romance action??) with a grade A dumbass for a fmc…but the messy, circa 2015 fanfiction vibes were enough to keep me hooked.

I enjoyed this book. It's an interesting concept of this life or death trial. The world building is lacking but I hope more detail will come in the next book. It is predictable, like from the start. But I still found it to be charming.

Loved it

There’s always something so satisfying to me when it comes to books about royalty. This story holds everything I love about them: the secrets, the lies, the games, the life or death consequences of your actions... and all the while it held your attention. I read this in one day, couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait for the next book!
