Artwork isn’t very good, text is very small, and the myths were meh. There are better sources if a child wants to learn more about Greek myths.

Am still trying to decide what I fully think. Of course, it was well-written and beautifully illustrated. And it's definitely made me think more about the sanitisation of myths and how we teach them to kids.

This was a great compact version of stories about Athena! The illustrations were really fun and it felt like the characters and stories were introduced well and would be easy to follow even for those who may not be familiar with Greek mythology stories!

This graphic novel tells the major myths from Athena's life from her "birth" from Zeus' head to her relationship with Odysseus. The graphic novel begins with descriptions of the key characters in the novel.

What I liked:
*I really enjoyed the illustrations in this novel. My copy was black and white and the sneak peek of the color is beautiful.
*I thought this was a great primer on some of the major Greek myths. I wish I had read this before reading some of the popular retellings that are circulating as it is has been a LONG time since I read any Greek myths. This would be perfect for the target audience.
*I liked that the illustrator used a variety of splashes and panel sizes to convey the messages of the story.

What I didn't like:
*The text was challenging to read as it is was in all caps.
*There wasn't a map included in this book which I think is crucial for understanding the myths.
*While I appreciated the number of stories about Athena's life, I would have liked some kind of closure. As a young reader, I'd wonder - is Athena still around? I know she's immortal so what happened to her?
*For the young audiences, I think it is important for the author to spell out what makes a God a God and the difference between a God and a demigod.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I think that the target audience would love it as an introduction to Greek myths.

Art's fun and the story hits some real highlights from Greek mythological canon in fun ways, but just a little too much of that end of a Filmation cartoon "Today we learned..." vibe in trying to teach the audience a lesson.
