What a strange, strange book. It always felt like I was only few pages away from understanding what was really going on. That some small revelation would pull the loose puzzle pieces into a coherent whole. And yet that never actually happens. But I kept reading all the while. Captivated, confused and unable to put it down. I often wondered if it was cultural differences between myself as an American reader or just the authors style which left me so perplexed, in either case, I very much enjoyed The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and look forward to my next foray into Murakami's strange worlds.
