Longmire investigates the murder of a young Vietnamese woman which sparks flash backs to time served in Vietnam and the murder of a friend of his. I think I rather appreciated the historical parts as perhaps insight into my father's experience as special forces including meeting and sharing a drink with Martha Rae.

Another great installment to the Longmire series. It just keeps getting better and better.

This time we get some flashbacks to Walt and Henry's time in Vietnam, as the current-day mystery has ties to their past. The body of a young Vietnamese woman is found in Walt's jurisdiction, and the Crow Indian found near the scene is accused of the murder. As Walt finds himself faced with proving a man's innocence, he is struck by the similarities to a case he had as a Marine investigator in Vietnam. The mystery is smartly woven together and I was guessing until the end.

Read this series. Just read it. You will like it.

Not the best Longmire, but I'm still enjoying them.

Another really absorbing Longmire book - more Vietnam stuff in this one, and more about Native American culture/language in the area as well.

Country cop solves murder related to murder he solved 40 years ago in Vietnam. Cue flashbacks.

Again a good read, as I am now totally engrossed in the Longmire mythos. However, I remain put off by the use of what I would call a gimmick -- parallel murder storylines weaving back and forth between present day and Walt's time in Vietnam.

I'm on the fence with this one.....between being a three or four star read.
Did I enjoy it? Yes.
Was I bothered by the racial slurs used in it (had to look a couple up because honestly did not know what they were)? Yes. However, I do understand that that was used in the flashbacks to show the anti-Vietnamese feelings at the time.
Was some of it tough to read? Oh yes. I usually avoid war stories at all costs because the descriptions haunt me for months afterwards.
But.....it had a decent ending. The mystery did keep me intrigued. The action parts kept me on the edge of my seat.
So.....I don't know. Might come back to this and change rating at some point. This is just kinda how I feel right now.
