Whipping through the series rather quickly. Still Like the stories, but need to take a break.

I really liked the dual Wyoming/Vietnam mysteries and got a lot of insight into the characters!

This was not one of Johnson's best. This book was disjointed and just not what I was expecting. I ended up power reading the last 100 pages or so. I'm hoping the next book in the series is much better.

Finely written, and no doubt I will finish the series. Excellent characters who I care about, and a wonderful slip into a kind of Native American spiritual world in each of these books.

With this particular series, I often can't unwind the clues to see exactly how Longmire figured things out, but that's not to say it isn't well-explained. I just tend to multi-task, and if I'm on Audible, I get lost. I tried it without Audible this time and it was a little easier, but not much, so I may go back. The narrator is excellent. (My getting lost has nothing to do with the writing - when it comes to these types of mysteries, I read too fast.)

There is a lot going on outside of the actual crime that's just as interesting. The story does bounce back and forth from Walt's experience in Vietnam to the present, which I found slightly irritating because in whichever world I was, I was THERE.

Looking forward to the next book.

It's done, it's official, I'm totally and forever hooked on Walt Longmire's mysteries.
Another man's moccassins is another great book about Walt Longmire, and it's focus mainly on his past this time.
I quite like the way in which the book is divided, with Walt in Absaroka, and Walt in Vietnam.
The investigation is really interesting, and I didn't guess how it would end, either in Vietnam and in Wyoming.

I absolutely love the frienship between Walt and Henry and I was moved when I had read the chapter in which Henry tells Walt that he may not survive the war.
I also like how Craig Johnson unveil, in each book, a bit more about Lucian.
His memory of his imprisonment in a Japan camp during the world war II is gripping, even more as he is telling it to Walt in a matter of fact tone.
I like a lot how Vic is teasing Walt in this book.
The new character, Virgil, is fascinating, and I'm looking forward hearing from him in the next books.
The moment we realised that Virgil can't stay alone in a room is extremely sad.
At last, I love how, with scarce wording, Craig Johnson expressed some important event, like "god" when Walt reads Virgil's file, and "Oh Sancho no" at one moment.

These books are so fun to listen to. This one had alternating timelines and it was just a pleasure to listen to.

This is the best book in the Longmire series so far. We get to read about his time in Vietnam because it ties with the case in current day. These snippets of his time in Vietnam really kept me reading because I wanted to know that full story. The thread about Walt trying to figure out if he was racist/biased was also a really interesting thing, and like Henry says “we are all biased”. It was good to see him exploring that in himself.
