SCHOOL LIBRARIAN REVIEW: I would recommend this series to anyone! Okay, any kid. Okay, a few adults, too. Strong female character, adventure, twisted fairy tale...oh, and its by the author of the Danny Dragonbreath series. A must buy for school libraries. This is the first book in an ongoing series. Did I mention strong female character? Even if she is a hamster.

What a cute book!  Half textual, half graphic novel, Hamster Princess makes a splash by retelling classic fairy tales with a twist!  In this tale, Harriet may as well be Sleeping Beauty, if it weren't for the fact that the curse needs her alive until then.  And when the curse does come, she has other plans for it.

With a good sense of humor and a rockin' color palette, this book is sure to make a splash in the fairy tale criticism world.  It subverts gendered notions and political roles, and does so with good spirits.  Overall, it's a fun retelling that is sure to make even the most avid of all fairy tale critics smile.

So great! A delightful and hilarious Sleeping Beauty retelling with a great sense of humor and a girl power. How could I not love a princess who is "tough and stubborn and inclined to bull doze everything in (her) path" and uses the prospect of her sleeping curse as an excuse to test her invincibility through cliff-diving and fighting monsters?

Self rescuing princesses are the best kind! And her response after finding out about the curse is brilliant.

This book is really cool! I love the story, though it is a little short... It's suitable for 7 year olds.
