This book was so packed with adventure & emotions that it felt like I wasn’t reading at times! As an outsider, it felt so easy to condemn her parents, but she did such a great job writing in a way that also made you empathetic towards them. Truly a great read!

Omg wtf this story was crazy!!! Tara Westover found DEAD!!!! Although I did like that in Educated I felt like TW went more into how complicated it is loving your parents who are mega messed up, and I feel like she was also a lot more self aware writing the book.

I think I’ve decided that it feels weird for me to rate memoirs so I won’t rate this but I am in awe of this one.
I listened to the audiobook which is read by the author.
The way that Walls tells her own life story is absolutely incredible. If id physically read this book i would have completely missed the lens through which Walls viewed her circumstances. I found myself having to remind myself that the memories Walls recounted were in fact true and not made up fiction for shock value. All throughout the book she speaks with such optimism that seems out of place at first & yet it feels fitting through the lens of a child who’s never known another way of being.
I feel a renewed awareness that you truly never know what another person has been through or how they perceive their own circumstances.
I’m thankful to have listened.
