Tessa was so pleased when she saw Ally Carter (YA author) had a book that she'd never heard of. Our library doesn't have it so I thought I'd be a stellar mom and ordered it from another library only to find out Tessa had found out ( and evidently told me) it wasn't YA! Oops! I know I'm the only mom who doesn't hear everything my kids say, so I have lost my A in mothering! Meanwhile, I thought I might as well read it myself. Forty pages in and so far it's fluffy entertainment.
3 and 1/2 stars
Cute, clean, slightly romantic story. Like reading a romantic/comedy (i.e. I can totally see this as a movie).

I love everything Ally Carter has ever written! She has a wonderful sense of humor that is easily captured in every character she writes and every book has this sense of urgency, whether they are teen spies or just trying to get back the original manuscripts of their secret novels. I haven’t read this book in forever and I’m so glad I decided to pick it up again! And I forgot how quickly it ends! I’ll need to pick up the second book next!

Silly but fun. Quick read. Chick-lit. Not much more to say.
Plus, I'm too engrossed in the next book to bother with this review right now.

This book was great. It was a little ludicrous and a lot hilarious, and it was exactly what I needed. I had a great time with it and the reflection of Julia James to Ally Carter’s writing history is kind of fabulous. I’ll probably pick up the sequel because I’m a completionist and I’ve read all of her other books 😂
