I didn't dislike this book, but I don't think I'm going to read the second in the duology. I didn't like the main character very much, nor did I understand her motivations or the motivations of the antagonist.

A really interesting concept. The set up of this ice age dystopia where everyone is obsessed with reality TV requires some suspension of disbelief, but it works
besides the mirror portal thing...what was that lol
. The author really committed to the concept and showed a lot of interesting ways the world works and how the characters feel about their world. But because there were so many interesting pieces of character and worldbuilding, some of the themes felt surface level simply because there wasn't enough page time. I liked the twists and the big reveals. The ending wasn't amazing but overall an entertaining story.
P.S. this book doesn't feel like it needs a sequel but it is a duology
