I've always had a fascination with Titanic and it is amazing to read a book that goes through moment by moment of what happened. To see quotes that were then repeated in the titanic movie and to see where James Cameron got inspired for certain parts. I loved that they listed every single passenger in the end.

I've read a couple of books about Titanic, and this one is by far the best. It's got a wonderfully horrifying sense of immediacy about that night, but it also manages to be rich and detailed.
The people in the story come out strongly, but the event as a whole is shown in detail too. Lord is very much aware that the book may not be 100% accurate, because he is writing off people's memories, and yet he weaves his story expertly.
I liked that we got a bit of POV from the Californian as well as the people on the Carpathia- the confusion of that night and the following days where the press just started to make things up.
A terrible tragedy that Lord captures so well.
