I had such high expectations for this book.

Unfortunately there were too many missed opportunities. The only reason I bumped the rating up was because it was a very interesting plot! I don’t see many mermaid shifter stories, or BIPOC FMC. But other than those reasons, it was a let down.

No clear image of the characters other than the FMC and the Best Friend. Disappointed all the way around.

Thoroughly Enjoyed

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It’s my first MC romance, add to the fact that it’s a reverse harem AND have 5 criminally hot and k!nky mermen pining for a WOC! It’s so hard to choose between these men. And there’s absolutely no reason to! The story had me hooked in the first few chapters.

This was my first book by this author AND first Why Choose book! I thoroughly enjoyed the representation in this book, the writing, and the spice. I look forward to her next release for Lourdes' story in May!

Totally loved the story, characters, the world this author created. So much that I had to reread it before reviewing it.

Naomi aka Queenie’s tumble into Krakens MC takes on a storyline and plot that goes beyond my imagination!

Trigger warnings, for some scenes, most scenes with character, Box. I can easily see that this might be to Spicy from some newer to the genre readers, and anyone under age of 20. For the rest of us, What a great ride.

First time reading book from this author, you just gained another follower. Loved the sexy scenes, the one-liners, the banter, the violence. Such a strong MFC, and mystery….who is on the other end of those tense, annoying phone calls…just a little bit of info to a great standoff, near the end of the book.

So looking forward to Lourdes adventure

so enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this story! Great character development and wonderful plot. I love the Queenie is her own savior, that she’s kick ass and tender all at the same time.

I need a Sugar story and one for Lourdes too!

Didn’t Enjoy

Honestly I thought with a title like this, it couldn’t fail. I struggled to get into the book at all, and I hated how they called all the women bitches, it didn’t fit with the book. Didn’t really feel much story, and I struggled to remember which guy was which, they were all so similar. Couldn’t finish it because I was bored.

It took me a little while to get into this book for a couple of reasons but by the end, I was loving it. I thought I wouldn’t get super into it so it would hold me over for a few days but after a certain point, I just couldn’t put in down and finished it within 48 hours.

To me, it reads a bit like a well-written Wattpad story that got published. Some plot points, names, and the way they address each other in the book are a bit cringy to me. Nicknames like “Daddy Kraken” and actively calling the gangs “motorcycle club” (MC for short) took me out of it sometimes. Thankfully the writing becomes more fluid and easier to read throughout the book which was really nice.

This was my first book by this author and I can safely say that I definitely want to read more.

Also, my favourite character is Box and I don’t know what that says about me but I’m really not willing to examine it right now.

"Maybe I've been doing myself a disservice for only now realizing the bravest of all of us in this life are the ones who dare; who dare to smile, who dare to dream, and who dare to love."

I'm not typically an rh reader but I will read anything Aleera writes. And this rh romance is frickin phenomenal. Not only does it have the most spiciest, steamiest scenes that are very frequent throughout the whole story but it has a great plot. All the men are three-dimensional and have heartbreaking back stories. Queenie (Naomi) herself is such a strong, badass female. One thing that I love about Aleera's writing is her ability to deliver strong female leads. No need to claim they're powerful when they prove it throughout the story.

"Maybe violence is my legacy and I have nothing left to do but bathe in it"

If you want a very hot story with amazing characters and great plot and a strong badass female lead then look no further. This checks all the boxes and if you frequently read rh then this is a definite must read for you.

All hail... "Queenie. The Kraken Queen."

This book is deliciously good. The lead female, Queenie, is underestimated at every turn because she holds so many secrets about herself, but oh, when they finally come out and she shows who she really is, it's amazing. I have a hard time picking a favorite guy because I love them all. Rock is old enough to be her daddy and the bossy leader of the group. Slug is the sweetheart who only lets his dark side out to protect the ones he cares about. Box is the psycho who will stop at nothing to make Queenie his. Scorpion is the reliable one, the one who makes sure everything goes according to plan. And Delfin is the broken one, the one only Queenie can reach. I enjoyed every bit of this book and hope we see more why choose merman MC's in the future.
