I like her books. Ghost mysteries sound stupid on paper but the way she does them makes them entertaining :) It wrapped up so well in a way I wasn’t necessarily expecting but one that was satisfying. Vivid imagery and solid characterization of what a girls school is like.

I don’t know what Simone St. James puts in her books but i’m officially obsessed. I doubted how she would tie together the timelines but I shouldn’t have.

This one took me a little longer to get into than The Book of Cold Cases and The Sun Down Motel, but I was engrossed once I got into it. I really enjoyed the ensemble cast. The romance in this one wasn’t my favorite but it’s such a small plot point that it doesn’t really affect anything.

Honestly had me on edge the whole time. And for the first time I actually felt nervous when turning off the light at night. It captured me and I think it represented trauma pretty well. But some parts just didn’t peak my interest as much. But it was a good read over all.

Second book by this author. I liked it, but I think I'm wanting more. Not sure how this is listed as horror. Yes, there are some ghosts, but I want more scare factor involved. Characters aren't significantly developed. They all seem a bit bland to me. I didn't dislike the characters, but I didn't love them either, so it was hard to connect. And enough of the gray eyed characters in books PLEASE!

It’s entirely horrible and sad and I absolutely loved it.
My chest was heavy with grief and and sympathy and horror throughout the entire book and yet Broken Girls got it’s claws around my heart and dove in, leaving a mark that will never disappear entirely.
The ugly, the tears, the rage… it’s all part of an amazing story, told in dual times but including more than that. From the 1940’s till 2014. The generational grief in this book is something i hope we never forget.
Historical fiction with very real events, mystery, murder, thriller, supernatural, psychological horror, romance, evil women and bad ass smart girls, it has it all.
