I gave Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries 5 stars, and I think I liked this sequel even more. I don't know if it's due to a change in the way Emily the character sees people or if it's due to having met some of these people before, but the characters felt more detailed. I felt much more attached and fond of  Wendell in this book and I really enjoyed the understated comfort of Emily's romance with him vs feeling like it was a weaker aspect of the previous book. This story also seemed more adventurous and fast paced, which I enjoyed despite not having any issue with the slower pace of the previous story. I am curious to see where the series goes from here. I recommend the audiobooks for this series, they suit the tone so well.

A reasonably good time, but didn’t live up to the hype of the first one. I will for sure continue in the series though, because this set us up for some fun stuff in the future!

This book had me wanting a sequel before it even finished!!! (I’m glad there is one, and honestly I can’t wait for it).
I can’t explain the way I so easily devoured this book (as well as the previous one).
The way Ms. Fawcett writes is just stunning to me. I could so vividly picture every setting, every caress, every character as their mouth bloomed into smile. I could feel the change in cadence and authorship in the chapter Wendell wrote.
This book feels like something I could and would read again someday and still find the same delight within the pages.
I hope my daughter desires to pick it up some day, and we can relive the journey together.

Emily is sooooo cool. I wish I had even half the tenacity, love, passion, and knowledge for anything the way she does for dryadology. This was such a good continuation of the first book and, while I hate that I'll now have to wait for the third installment to come out, I'm very happy to have something to look forward to as I know Heather Fawcett will release another novel that's on par to the previous two. I adore the cozy sort of magic she's able to soak these stories in, while providing adventure against such vivid and expansive backdrops. I loved getting to know Emily and Wendell in the first book, and now the loveliness of seeing more of them and watching their relationship develop. A great romance (and book) to me is when you can enjoy the characters separately as well as together, and Emily and Wendell are equally as strong and charming together as they are individually. It's so sweet seeing how far their relationship has come and how much care they have for each other, and of course I must include how strongly it warms my heart whenever we see a journal entry from Wendell and to witness the way he views Emily.

I'm also very happy, and relieved, to conclude this novel without seeing any deaths from our beloved characters, and instead were able to see even more of Shadow and Poe. They are two of the most sweetest companions, and what a treasure it is to be claimed as their fjölskylda.

Liked overall but not as much as the first one. Emily is a bit annoying and overconfident (more so than in the last book, I thought).
Wendell is sick for the whole book.
The romance isn’t making a lot of sense to me. Wendell is carrying this series.
