More hits than misses, but not as good as last year's edition.

This is a hard anthology for me to rate because most off the good stories in this I had already read before, and didn't reread them, so it felt like I mostly got the lowlights out of this book. Of the new to me stories in this I really liked Let's Play Dead by Senaa Ahmad, The Plague Doctors by Karen Lord, and Brother Rifle by Daryl Gregory. From the one's I had read before, The Pill by Meg Elison (which has lived rent free in my head for two years), How to Pay Reparations by Tochi Onyeabuchi, The Long Walk by Kate Elliot, and Two Truths and a Lie by Sarah Pinsker are all great.

DNF @ ~50%. Started reading this for the Book Riot Read Harder challenge. Really enjoyed some stories but overall just have 0 desire to keep reading at the moment.

Individual stories that stuck out to me:
-Tiger's Feast was excellent. Strong, visceral, emotional.
-Not sure how I feel about The Pill. Very weird, very interesting. I don't know that I enjoyed reading it, but I still think it's a great short story.
-Schrodinger's Catastrophe was great. Thought my brother would enjoy it so had him read it, and he described it as "like Douglas Adams tried to do horror," which is pretty apt.

As with any anthology, there were stories I liked and stories that didn’t do it for me at all. I was surprised how many tiptoed toward horror, too.

“Schrodinger’s Catastrophe” was my favorite story in the collection. I liked having author notes on the stories as well (notes are with author biographies at end of book). I may try another of these collections some time.

While I liked both, I wish there hadn't been 2 stories from Delgado included when there were so many great choices.

I loved most of these stories, though my favorite was definitely the first one. Some of stories weren't so well written, including the one about the AIs who changed spaceship shells and the one about the pandemic in the year 2040 or something like that. But "Let's Play Dead", "Crawfather", "How to Pay Reparations: A Documentary", "Our Language", "Schroödinger's Catastrophe", "The Cleaners", "And This Is How To Stay Alive", "The Beat Adjoins", "The Long Walk", "Skipping Stones in the Dark", and "Two Truths and a Lie" were all great. "Two Truths and a Lie" could have been much creepier, but it was good as it was, too.
