LOVE the illustrations!

Darling dog, cute pictures. Appealed to me as the dog resembles my Scottie. That's usually good enough for me!

An unlikely friendship between a rescued animal shelter dog and a fuzzy cat slipper. You really do want to dog to be good! But he has a shoe fetish, what can he say?

If you've ever loved a dog that loved to chew on things, this book will connect with you!

Cute story with whimsical wording like "The Land of Upstairs" and other dog-perspective locations. A sweet outcome to the dog owner's conundrum. The thing that threw me off the most, though, was the scribbled illustration component for the dog - it just didn't quite jive for me for some reason, so was a bit of a distraction, although I can see the reasoning behind doing it also.

I enjoyed this story of a mischievous rescue pup learning to behave. The illustrations are beautiful but a lot has to be inferred from the pictures and my 5 y.o. son wasn't clear about what was happening in parts of the book.

Don't get it. The poor dog wants something to chew so he chews shoes.

Best part was the illustration of the dog himself. Very unique.

I really liked this book's artwork, that I will say. The artwork was ADORABLE; Shoe Dog himself was just the cutest little wiggle and I 100% wanted him in my own home.

The issue I had with this book, however, was that it was a little sad insomuch as Shoe Dog was yelled at and punished by being left alone at night in the dark :(

I thought Shoe Dog could have done more with teaching kids how to correct poor behavior in puppies/newly adopted dogs; instead, Shoe Dog was yelled at, left alone to be punished, shunned, not proactively taught better behavior, and just generally made depressed.

The beginning was adorable and the end was sweet, but the middle... was just honestly depressing. Too sad for kids and there wasn't much in the way of teaching a positive message.

This is a very cute story, and I love the way the dog is illustrated.

really cute story about a dog who loves chewing up shoes and has a fun ending
