• honestly I hate to rate this so low but it is BAD and does not hold up. meg had me in a chokehold when I was a kid and after rewatching the movies so many times I forgot what exactly the book was.

• mainly I had forgotten this was written as a literal child’s diary and that was kind of awful to get through, but then all the horrible things/ sayings/ etc.  (that tbf were used a lot more widely and freely in the early 2000s) it was just a lot.

• honestly the book is way better. I do think I’m going to keep reading through. I think I’ve only read the first 3-4 and some of the novellas, but there’s like 15 now??? I was also obsessed with Junx and Avalon High so I kind of want to read those and see how they are as an adult lmao.

Hilarious and delightful romp of a 14 year old making her way in the world after discovering she’s a princess. Anne Hathaway narrated the audiobook and it was just like watching the movie.

I've read the entire series, including the newest, "Royal Wedding." All fun! Grandmere makes me crazy and never gets the smack down, though.

The Princess Diaries is my favorite book series of all time. You will laugh, you will cry, you will experience all the feels!

this is such a throwback book from my childhood. I never do that with an audiobook version with Anne Hathaway read it yet which made it super funny because it reminded me of the movie. What I didn't realize is how bad her grandmother is in the book compared to the queen that is Julie Andrews in the movie. Also, the queen is not a queen. She is just a dowager princess that was a change that the movie made that I completely forgot about cause I have a read these books and over 12 years. It is for going back and reviewing these characters but you could definitely tell they are high schoolers rather than the adults of the second movie. I plan to read the whole series again, so I'm interested to see the character development.
