So much fun

Great young adult series. I read them all as a kid, such great books

Definitely cute! I loved the movies growing up and I was very surprised at how different the book is from the movie. I loved Mia's character, her obliviousness and charm won me over. Lilly is definitely a better friend in this book than in the movie, but they argue for much longer. Mia's grandma is also much less angelic than Julie Andrews. Cute, sweet, simple!

Cute. I would have loved it had I read it when I was 12 or 13. I wish they hadn't cut Tina from the movie.

I’m not sure how this racist, sexist, trans/homophobic, fatphobic, antisemitic disaster was so completely redone to make an actually good movie, but I’m going to pretend I never read it

I love this series--I feel like Mia is one of my best friends. I'd like to write diary entries as funny and captivating as Meg Cabot does in her voice.

Cheesy and quite predictable. But it was still really enjoyable and I love Mia as a character even though she can be very naive (which is intentional).
I initially bought this book series because I love the films with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews. (I think the mix of comedy and drama is on a perfect scale). Queen Clarisse, in the films, is a loving, conscienous and wonderful woman who is a pivotal character, whom I love. However, Grandmere Clarisse in the book is definitely NOT like Julie Andrew's Clarisse, which is upsetting and irritating as I think the films did a great job of the positive relationship between her and Mia. I think the book lacks this relationship significantly, however I am hoping that their relationship grows in the following books considering this one only took place over about 3-4 weeks.

P.S. MIA'S DAD IS ALIVE...WTF!?!
