Read for Teen Book Club. I wish that I had read this book in 2000, when it was new and I was the appropriate target audience. I would have loved it.

Even as an almost-30-year-old, there's still a lot to like. I can't help but compare it to the movie. The two are very similar at their core, especially in terms of tone, but different in a few essential plot points and character changes.

The book is dated a bit by pop culture references. If you don't mind working through references to Titanic, The Blair Witch Project, and Princess Diana's death, then these references are not a problem. Of course, I actually remember all of these things. Not sure how someone not familiar with them would respond.

Not my cup of tea. I'm sorry, your highness.

Pretty good. Nothing like the movie. Book is definitely better.

Ladies and gentlemen ! This is the book that began my amazing journey as a reader, made me the books obsessed person that I am today.Funny, dramatic, naïve Mia is the first character to have captured my heart and drawn me into the World of glorious books.I think I read this when I was 8 or 9* damn I feel old...*
Basically it's trashy, repetitive,under-developed and not really what you would call literature but it's still a ton of FUN to read !!!

I absolutely loved these books in high school, and I still love Meg Cabot, who can always make me laugh. I've outgrown these books a bit but I have good memories of reading them.
