Four stars as a YA book -- it HAS won two awards. I was curious when a smart, educated 20-something I met said this was her fav series from teen years. I saw the movie and was not impressed. This is a nice book though and hits on a lot of pre-teen and naive teen angst. Something I hope my daughter reads when she is about 13.

There were certainly parts where this book has aged poorly, mostly, I was just surprised by how FUNNY Mia is! But dare I say, the movie is better!? (The movie IS better!!)
