ugh this book had SO much potential, but fell short for me.

i thought the book started out strong, but i struggled to get through the rest of this book. the beginning of the book where the FMC was sabotaging the relationship felt forced and unnecessary (and also extremely childish) and the side characters (specifically Keiko) was unbearable to read.

I did Laugh out loud a few times, but not enough that makes me want to leave a better review. The characters are spiteful. The h make me want to punch her in the face. The H put up with more than he should have. I wanted to not finish this book so many times, but I powered through it and not entirely happy I did.

Honestly this book was a master piece, I don't think I've ever laughed and squealed so much in my entire life. Meghan Quinn is the queen of romcoms thats all I can say. This will most definitely be my favourite of hers so far and I absolutely loved A Not So Meet Cute but this book had me going through all the motions. Pike was just the best and the shenanigans that Cora gets up to will have you laughing out loud. Not to mention Keiko

Coraline and Pike have quite the entertaining and unconventional beginning to a marriage. Cursed is the Fireball whiskey for Cora and especially in crazy Las Vegas.
The two wake up and slowly realize they got married!
I loved the Vegas scenes and later the flashback memories.
There’s a battle of the wills when Pike refuses to annul the marriage and insists on moving in with Cora.
The games begin, who can outlast who? Who can play the better mind game? The problem becomes, what is the risk of the games they’re playing?Feelings are definitely becoming involved.
Between their banter and tricks and the secondary characters fun conversations and insights it’s a cute, entertaining story.
The chemistry and sexy times are pretty freaking hot! I was pleasantly surprised, It was much hotter than I expected. I do like it sexy.
There are sweet and emotional moments. They aren’t drawn out, but it does give the reader insight into the characters, their pasts and what they start to appreciate about each other.
There’s a big secret being kept that I knew was going to blow up terribly. And it did. I liked the way the characters handled it. Not immature, it wasn’t too drawn out or too easily forgotten. I appreciate that maturity in a book about an adult relationship.

There weren’t as many laugh out loud moments for me as there usually is with this author’s RomCom’s.
I liked the characters, I think the story is fun and entertaining. And I already stated, it’s crazy HOT.
It actually felt a bit drawn out,I can’t believe I’m saying this.
And one secondary character was a bit too extreme to seem real, maybe if it was slapstick I could have loved her, I just felt mildly entertained by her sometimes. Keiko.. I’m sure she’s going to have plenty fans. She’s like a character from the show The Big Bang Theory. Just wasn’t my cup of tea.
There are plenty of enjoyable things about the story, it’s just not my favorite by the author.
I look forward to her next book and I’ll definitely continue to read her books. Not every book is a five star hit for every reader even when it’s a favorite author.

Cora & Pike

4 stars for the piercing alone. Everything else was great too, definitely peak romcom vibes but reading this immediately after reading Earn Your Extra Credit was a mistake.

Keiko became less and less likeable with each book! I don't know she just felt like she was a detriment to the story and just became another problem in the way.

Also I feel like the miscommunication was a pain to deal with. If Pike had told Cora from jump why he wanted them to stay married she would've been more amenable and less crazy pants. It would've saved everyone a lot of heartache.

all characters were annoying, the vegas storyline was extremely boring and unnecessarily long, and where are the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book? i skipped through the second half but i think the mmc loses body parts in an accident so i guess thats worth a trigger warning.

I enjoyed this story.
It was so much fun, and frustrating somewhere at the end for me (not in a bad way I think).
My impressions have not completely subsided yet. But overall, pretty good read.

Put Me in Detention
By: Meghan Quinn
Narrated by: Vanessa Edwin, John Hartley

Recently divorced, Cora and the girls go to Vegas to celebrate! Cora is on a mission. Have some fun and forget her past for a night. Who should also be there, but Pike, the handsome British history teacher? He tends to ignore her, but tonight she takes him on, and when they wake up with hangovers, he next day, they also have wedding rings. She has no intention of staying married. After her failed relationship, she is no interested. But Pike needs her to stay married now to keep the foundation he and his brother have started intact. Will these two find their true feelings? I love this series, so many good characters. The girls are so much fun, as they navigate through their own relationships and try to help Cora. The best is Kiki, and her new, found best friend relationship with Pike. This is a funny, quirky and romantic story that had me smiling the entire time!

Narrated by the talents of Vanessa Edwin and John Hartley, I was mesmerized for hours. Edwin is fantastic as always. She knows how to drill into her characters and make them her own. Each voice she uses is perfectly specific to their personalities and makes the story interesting. Hartley has a smooth and sensual voice as Pike. He creates his characters with finesse and gives each one their own identities. They both have incredible comedic timing, and their voices complement each other. Meghan Quinn picked cast the perfect team for this romcom.
