I feel like Meghan Quinn always has solid stories. I’ve yet to be disappointed or DNf a story of hers.
This was no exception.
There was funny moments. Sweet moments. Steamy moments.
There was a slight bit of miscommunication type thing going on at one point.
It wasn’t like a prolonged thing between the characters so I was glad about that.

I like Pike and Cora. Both having some issues from their past they needed to overcome. I liked the whole premise of the book, drunken night in Vegas leads to being married. It’s fun.

Pranks seem to be a central theme in this series and while they’re usually pretty funny, I do think Cora went too far a couple of times. I freaking loved the night in Vegas though! Drunk Cora and Pike were HILARIOUS! This did get more emotional than I thought it would, but overall it was a fast, funny read!

This book was fine. The general idea for a plot was okay but it was not for me for 2 main reasons. I prefer concise writing & in my opinion this book was probably 50 pages too long at a minimum. Additionally I did not find the conflict believable. As a final note, the character Kieko seemed like a caricature of an autistic person. She was supposed to have this huge vocabulary but while she did know a lot of big words some of them were clearly looked up in a thesaurus & plugged in simply to have a larger word when the word seemed to distort the meaning of the sentence.

Not enough character development for me.  Steamy and a little more that I am comfortable with but I like the couple.  Weird names detracted for me.  Odd character in Kieko, but she grows on you.

I'm a little sad to give a low rating but here's why.

The first half of the book was perfect: accidental marriage that turns into a marriage of convenience. She is against it so she fights it, cue the banter and tension between them. The chemistry was palpable, I loved it.

The second half? I feel like it was all over the place.  The start getting along, they open up to each other but see, there's something he's not telling her. Because to her, their marriage was a result of a drunken mistake yes but not so much of convenience. They kinda knew each other before and the attraction was already there so he said "why not?"

Yeah, not really. He has an ulterior motive for wanting to stay married which isn't anything inherently bad. It becomes so when it's been months and he still hasn't told her.

Honestly, I understand miscommunication could have its use but like this? For me it leads to unnecessary drama which I hate hence the low rating.

Her reaction kinda was a bit extreme but it's because she has past trauma with relationships and has a hard time trusting people. All of this he knew.

And then, after the climax hits the resolution? Not enough and too quick. they're forced to share a space together, again, and first he pushes her away then he tries to win her back and then he is the one who's mad at her??? and the thing that makes her forgive him? a joke. honestly, wtf.

I feel like what makes a good book is the drama resolution and this one disappointed me big time.

I really really like Keiko.
Everyone who agrees needs to read Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid.
