Writing style was unique and, although a little tricky to get into, added a lot to the dreamy quality of the whole story. I was so fearful that this would have a tragic ending, but the fact that it ended with two women coming to the rescue really healed some part of me. The fact that it seemed so obvious that the 17 year old girl would be victimized, just as is suggested of the bog girls throughout the story, yet it is through a college girl and a midwife that we as the readers are shown just how absurd it all is. Loved it. Hard to put into words how it made me feel.

This is a hard read, but it holds truths even for today.

Ghost Wall was an unexpected read. Pleasantly short but a full and complete story. It is fun to watch the author weave together aspects of ancient and modern culture. Scavenging and swearing or family drama with old fashioned cooking. The characters while fully fleshed out generally made me sad, they were so beat down by life and often so scared and vulnerable- which in turn highly the vulnerability of the setting.
I was both glad and disappointed by the end having expected the main character to die in the moments of ritual but her finding sisterhood with Molly was much better, just not what I was expecting.
Overall a solid book, well written, atmospheric, and eerily human.
