An early Hole novel but has all the classic Nesbo elements.
Harry Hole is always good, unexpected twists and turns, I love that I don't see the end coming from the middle of the book.
Synes denne var så og si helt lik den forrige. Synes ikke noe særlig om Hole, og selve krimen er heller ikke helt min stil
After a 'job well done' in Australia Harry is now seen as the golden boy of the Norwegian police force - even though his alcohol issues are continuing to have an impact.
So when the Norwegian ambassador is murdered in Thailand Harry is the obvious choice to be sent to Bangkok to investigate. He needs to solve the crime and avoid a scandal however this is hard when the ambassador's family are hiding secrets of their own.
When some CCTV turns up matters become more complicated and before long Harry doesn't know who to trust in an unfamiliar city where people are not what they seem.
There's lots of death, twists and turns with a black of humour thrown in.
A good follow up to The Bat, need to read the next one 3/5

I think I like the jaded old Harry Hole in the Snowman better than the 35 y.o. Harry in Cockroaches.
Slight caveat to this review - I was a bit distracted while reading this book, so my viewpoint may be somewhat compromised as a result.
This is one of the earlier Harry Hole books and while I thought it was ok, I didn't love it. The author has clearly come a long way in terms of the character and plot development since this was written. There just didn't seem to be as much of the grittiness of his later works despite the story taking place in Thailand. The one aspect that I liked was hearing the back story about the relationship between Harry and his sister as well as the extra glimpses into his past relationships.

Good, actually very good. Better than the first one. But I'm still confused about what happened with Jens at the end.
