I found this book to be more cohesive than the first Harry Hole ([b:Flaggermusmannen|1991039|Flaggermusmannen (Harry Hole, #1)|Jo Nesbø|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1236348090s/1991039.jpg|1994708]), but I still had some trouble following it. I think because the crimes in both of these have been so complicated it's hard to follow exactly what's happening. It's also odd because in both books, you get a full description of the entire murder right before you find out who did it - I wish they'd tell us who the killer is while explaining why they did it. I also think listening to it on audio might be confusing me as the story gets more complex, but I do enjoy the reader, John Lee.

I love Jo nesbo but staying up at 3am to finish this trust me is not worth it.
Not because the book is not worth it but for the sake of my sanity.. how the fuck am I supposed to find sleep after those gruesome scenes? I’ll be thinking them for days!

Harry is not my favorite detective, but I do love all of the supporting characters. I felt like I couldn't get into this, maybe because I read it to sporadically at the laundromat every couple of weeks, but the final confrontation (as was the case with The Bat) did draw me back in and make me want to read more of the series.
[spoilers]
Nothing makes me want to read more than some asshole murderer getting a jackhammer to the face.
